When buying your dream home, it's crucial to inspect the quality of materials and craftsmanship. Check if exposed beams and joists are in good condition and look for any large cracks in the basement walls that indicate a shifting foundation. Pay attention to any mildew stains that could suggest dampness or flooding. Additionally, ensure that the attic and ceiling insulation in unheated bas are adequate, and look for signs of water damage from leaks or issues with flooring walls. Don't forget to assess the functionality of and windows, the condition of bathroom fixtures, and whether kitchen appliances in good working order.
